Author: Gena Showalter
Hardcover: 440 pages
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Released Date: August 19, 2009

Intrest: Synopsis

There's something about the new guy at Crossroads High…

Most sixteen-year-olds have friends.

Aden Stone has four human souls living inside him:
One can time travel.

One can raise the dead.

One can possess another human.

One can tell the future.

Everyone thinks he's crazy, which is why he's spent his entire life shuffled between mental institutions and juvie. All of that is about to change, however. For months Aden has been having visions of a beautiful girl—a girl who carries centuries-old secrets. A girl who will either save him or destroy him.
Together they'll enter a dark world of intrigue and danger…but not everyone will come out alive.

My Thoughts:

I had been hearing a lot of buzz about this series so I was finally able to pick it up from the library. I like the cover because it's on the edge of being bad ass but not quite there, kind of like Aden. The font for the title was also ultra snazzy and I liked how it was on his chest and spread out. Props for the cover!
The main character Aden Stone first seems like that awkward type of guy that is just growing into his powers and realizing his bad ass destiny. Think Shia La Beof in Transformers or Percy Jackson! But when you read from the other main character's point of view, Mary Ann, you find out that he is this really hot stud who just happens to not have that much experience with girls because everyone thinks he's a crazy schizophrenic.

Speaking of Mary Ann, I have to say, I really liked reading Mary Ann's point of view better. Maybe just because her love interest, Riley, sounds ultra amazing and has that cute protectiveness going on. But Aden's story was just fascinating. All the trapped souls in his head talking at once would make someone go crazy, yet somehow Aden is holding up. I like how even though he really isn't that crazy, he just goes with his living situation and tries to make the best out of it. He's got some crazy determination and it very admirable trait!
The romance in this book was also pretty fun to read about. But while the passion factor wasn't really  high up, the flirting just kind of made you grin in amusement. I liked Riley and Mary Ann's relationship to Aden and Victoria's just because I like the arrogant and I-can-rip-your-head-off-and-eat-it-for-breakfast- attitude that Riley puts off. Plus, he's a werewolf. Very YA paranormal, I know...  But while Aden is almost becoming a full bad ass, Riley has just got the whole BA factor going on!
The action in this book though was probably the best thing out of it. Aden incarcerating zombies was BA and all the witches, goblins, fairies, vampires, and werewolves are all equally sweat and fear inducing! I was very entertained wherever there was adventure and action leading up to the big finale!
This book was very fun to read and I just can't wait to read the next book, Unraveled! I wonder what will happen to the fantastic 4 made up of Aden, Victoria, Mary Ann, and Riley! Then ending was just a huge cliffhanger, so I have to know soon...
