Book of the Moment: Matched by Ally Condie
Matched is a thrilling love/dystopian tale set in the near future written by author, Ally Condie.
Cassia lives in a world where everyone lives in a little soft haven of a bubble. No one dares to break a rule. No dares to do anything that the Officials won't allow. But things change. When it's time for Cassia to be Matched with her partner who is selected based on genes and what is exactly right for one another, Cassia is happily surprised when it is her best friend, Xander. But when another familiar guy named Ky appears on her screen, Cassia thinks maybe Xander wasn't supposed to be her Match after all. Cassia is then whisked into a romance that shouldn't be happening and thought could destroy her and other around her. In a world of utter dystopia, can one have the freedom of having choices? Or are those choices what lead you to the ultimate destruction? This is what Cassia prepares to find out.
The last very dystopian book I read was The Giver and I thought that book was good but not great. But that is just personally my opinion. I liked this book though because it had romance in it and that is just my thing! I feel like the character of Cassia could be sometimes flat but I guess in a world where everything is the same, there is no real time to be "different" or anything like that. The beginning of the book kind of absorbed me but personally, the middle of the book was sort of a yawn to me. Towards the ending of the book though, it revved up and the book completely sucked me in, as I was turning the page rapidly, absorbing what was happening to the characters. Matched is a very well written story and it sort of scares me to think if I really could live in a world like that. Dystopia in general is impossible to achieve and trying to is just plain scary! Anyhow, this book is a great read and all in all thought it was a good book!
I give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Book of the Moment: Chosen by P.C. Cast + Kristin Cast
Chosen is the third book in darkly funny and sexy House of Night Series by the mother/daughter duo, P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast.
Zoey Redbird has been at House of Night for a while now and the drama just never seems to end! Zoey is juggling three boyfriends and she knows it wrong but she really just can't help it! There is the boyfriend everyone knows she has, the uber man Eric Night. There is Heath, her human ex boyfriend who really isn't just an ex anymore... And then there is the hotly off limits young poetry teacher, Loren, who makes Zoey feel like a woman, not just some gawky teenager who is confused about everything. But on top of this mad, four triangle (gasp!) is the fact that her best friend is undead and is just this close to losing any past trace of her old self and into becoming a monster. With these dilemmas, enemies are becoming friends and people she thought she could trust are not so trustworthy it turns out... When being a teenage vampire with unbelievable powers that really, no one else in the history of the world has had, life can get kinda tough. And that is just what Ms. Zoey Redbird finds out.
You know those series that keep getting worse and worse as more books come out? Well that is about the OPPOSITE of what happened to the House of Night series for me! Usually the later books in a series can ruin it but this series has so far held out strong and has been very impressive with up holding my taste. My taste being loads of drama, passionate love, and kick ass action, which clearly is included in this little treat of a book. The books are sort of short so I have been super fast about reading them but I'm so glad there are so many more books in the series! I can't wait to read what happens and I'm jumping up and down for it! But I'm going to have to take a mini break to read some other books so I have some, shall we say, variety. Anyways, Chosen was such a fun read and I can't wait to read more of Zoey Rebird's journey!
I give it a 4.5 out of 5 stars!
My FIRST Follow Friday! :)
I would be Rose Hathaway from the Vampire Academy Series HANDS DOWN! I fell in love with her character and how strong and determined she is! Plus she has this confidence that frankly, most teen girls don't have! Being a teen girl, she kind of is role model. Sure she sleeps with her mentors who are like 7 years older and punches people for the heck of it, but if I could have as much spunk and self-esteem as her? Then sign me up! Plus lately, as I've built up my confidence and ask my daily question of What would Rose do?, I've noticed that I even feel a bit bad ass. Aw yeah. THAT is my dream right there! :)
If I could date any character from a book...well heck, this is a really hard question...there are so many. Adrian from the VA series, Patch from Hush, Hush, Peeta from Hunger Games. Nope, I've made up my mind! Mr. Dimitri Belikov is definitely my main man! First of all his bad ass-ness kinda makes me swoon and who wouldn't love that? Plus I'm the type of girly who goes for MEN, shall we say... :) And Mr. Belikov personifies EVERYTHING that I love! :) Yum.

The cover reveal for Silence was on May 2 and I about peed my pants when I saw it! MTV Hollywood Crush revealed it and a flood of fans rejoiced! Coming out in exactly, as of now, 142 days, 15 hours, and 48 minutes...
OMG! While Hollywood Crush also revealed the cover they also revealed an excerpt from the book! Talk about joy overload when heard about this!!! Here it is below.

He closed the distance between us, and just when I thought he'd drawn me against him, he stopped, holding himself in check. I exhaled, trying not to cry. He leaned his elbow on the doorjamb, just above my ear. He smelled so devastatingly familiar, soap and spice, the heady scent bringing back a rush of memories so pleasurable, it only made the current moment that much more difficult to bear. I was seized by the desire to touch him. To trace my hands over his skin, to feel his arms tighten securely around me. I wanted him to nuzzle my neck, his whisper to tickle my ear as he said private words that belonged only to me. I wanted him near, so near, with no thought of letting go.
"This isn't over," I said. "After everything we've been through, you don't get the right to brush me off. I'm not letting you off that easily." I wasn't
sure if it was a threat, my last stab at defiance, or irrational words spoken straight from my splintered heart.
"I want to protect you," Patch said quietly.
He stood so close. All strength and heat and silent power. I couldn't escape him, now or ever.
He'd always be there, consuming my every thought, my heart locked in his hands; I was drawn
to him by forces I couldn't control, let alone escape.
"But you didn't."

Ummm...so what's a teen girl to do? Sit and wait? Ughhh! As you can see I am beyond gushing with excitement for this book!
There are also some fun little things you can see at the official fan site http://www.fallenarchangel.com/ where you can see behind the scene looks for the lovely new cover and even see the swoon worthy hotness of a Patch cover model in the works!
So...anyone else buzzin with this excitement??? :)

Book of the Moment: Betrayed by P.C. Cast + Kristin Cast
Betrayed is the second in the vampirific (yes I said it) and darkly humorous House of Night series by the Cast mother/daughter duo!
Zoey Redbird has been a Fledgling for about two months now but she is still getting used to her intricate Markings above her eyebrows, neck, shoulder, and along her back. She is already considered abnormal for the fact that fledgling don't even get their Crescent Mark filled until they become full adult vampires. But of course Zoey is the odd one out. But with that comes wonderful things like, having an affinity for all five elements. But there is also the downside of being Imprinted with her ex human boyfriend Heath while she is ALSO going out with the hottest guy at House of Night, the uber man Eric Night. Oh and there is also the fact that the super hot Poet/Teacher is hitting on Zoey. And she likes it. While juggling three guys, she is also the leader of the Dark Daughters and Zoey is determined to make it the best and not horrible and degrading like it was before under the Leadership of the hateful hag from hell, Aphrodite. But as she must face new responsibilities, she is faced with a new issue. Human teen boys that Zoey knew in her past life are turning up dead and are conspicuously close to the House of Night. And all suspicions are pointed to the school itself. However, when a sudden death shakes up Zoey's world, she must join with her trusty friends and find out the meanings behind the killings as even more weird findings are seemingly somewhat linked together. Will Zoey like what she finds? Probably not. But in the House of Night, Zoey must use her skills and her gifts from the Goddess Nyx to figure out what she must do and whom she must be.
My review for the first book wasn't all that good because I really didn't like it. But after I had read a few other books, this series was sitting on the shelves of my local library, and they kept taunting me, telling me to read them. And I just couldn't help my self. I thought I wouldn't read the rest of the series but I gave in to my curiosity and then I just HAD to find out what happened! Although the reading style somewhat bothers me at times, if you get past it, it's actually a pretty good story. Betrayed is a lot better than the first book and I got to see a deeper look into Zoey's life. I think Zoey is a cool character but not as strong as a one like Rose Hathaway from the Vampire Academy series. No matter what kind of vampire book I read, I have to say the VA series is the best. No doubt at all! So while I like Zoey, I would love to see just a tad bit more oomph in her!
Right now, I'm reading Chosen and let me tell you, I'm glad I told my self to grab Betrayed and just read on with the series! It's actually pretty exciting!
I give it a 3 out of 5 stars!
