For Jacinda is a draki—a descendant of dragons whose greatest defense is her secret ability to shift into human form.

Forced to flee into the mortal world with her family, Jacinda struggles to adapt to her new surroundings. The only bright light is Will. Gorgeous, elusive Will who stirs her inner draki to life. Although she is irresistibly drawn to him, Jacinda knows Will's dark secret: He and his family are hunters. She should avoid him at all costs. But her inner draki is slowly slipping away—if it dies she will be left as a human forever. She'll do anything to prevent that. Even if it means getting closer to her most dangerous enemy.

Mythical powers and breathtaking romance ignite in this story of a girl who defies all expectations and whose love crosses an ancient divide.

My Thoughts:

I picked up this book because I had just been hearing so much media buzz about it! Every single book blog was talking about this book and so of course I had to read this book! I read the synopsis and was very impressed because I don't think I have read a dragon type book since Eragon. And that was like in 5th grade. So it was really cool to read a book about a teenage girl who could turn into a Draki, which are the descendants of dragons. Pretty epic, right?

I thought the main character Jacinda was full of teen angst and spunk. She's the only fire breather in generations which is funny because people think that all dragons,er Draki, breathe fire. But I guess not in this book! I like how she is so passionate and confident of her inner Draki and that no matter what her mother says, she stays true to who she really is. That moral sort of ties in with average teens around the world who feel like their parents may not accept who they really are and that no one will understand. Yes, yes there is that teen angst but I really did notice how Jacinda's true to self attitude is similar to most teens and how they feel. Except us teens aren't really Draki...
I liked how she realized that even though she was the shit at where she used to live because she was a fire breather, high school isn't the same and well, she isn't as cool as she thought she was. But Jacinda was comfortable with it even though she missed her old place and I though that was cool of her. Jacinda is someone we can relate to even if she is part dragon and can breath fire. She's got spunk. :)

Oh and then there is Will... Hunky, hunky Will who's Jacinda's love interest. Will seemed exceptionally hot! I like how he is different from his other hunter family members and how he actually has a caring heart. I thought he had guts for realizing who Jacinda was but still being ok with it. Ugh, it's just so damn romantic. "A hunter falling in love with it's prey." AH! I definitely liked him! He was sweet and accepting, and those are some of the best traits you could ask for! Love him!

I loved all the risk and danger in this book too! I liked how even though it super risky for them to be together, they faced against the odds and somehow pulled it off! There was nail biting action and danger and it epic! This book sort of reminded me of Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause. That book was one of the first paranormal werewolf love stories and I remember just eating it up! The main character in that book also had to make the decision of if she wanted to stay with her human boyfriend or go back to her pack and be with the Alpha. That's how Firelight was too. Jacinda could either be with Will or go back with Draki/Alpha/Prince Cassian and go back to the Pride. There was risky business in both of those book... (:

Overall, I thought this book was great and a real treat! It had everything I wanted and liked from action to epic romance to life changing decisions! This was a fun and juicy read and I will recommend it to anyone! Especially those who have read Blood and Chocolate!

I give it a 4 out of 5 CHEWS!

  3. Fantastic review. Really enjoyed your enthusiasm. I like a main character who has "spunk"! lol!

Adding this to my reading list. I've seen a lot of people writing about it too and saying how good it is. I feel left out! I have been reading Eragon etc recently so I'm just starting to get the whole dragon trend that's starting to appear!
